Life Skills Programming is provided concurrently throughout every phase of treatment. However, there is a more intense emphasis on Intensive Treatment and Transitional Living. We have designed the programming to provide practical skills needed for adults with mental illness to reach their maximum level of independence. The program is for clients who have the capacity to tolerate the stress of employment, self-care, and desire to move more toward independent living. The Life Skills Program assesses the existing and potential capabilities of the adult involved with emphasis on:

  • Developing structured times for productive work, volunteer activities, and/or enrollment in school.

  • Developing specific skills in areas of budgeting, maintaining living spaces, negotiating with vendors/landlords, and creating interests outside the home for positive leisure time opportunities.

  • Monitoring and consulting with outside employment to determine individual needs and corrective training.

  • Assistance in development of self-assessment skills so the resident involved can understand and seek assistance with daily stressors in social and work life.

  • Providing protective and supportive work opportunities on and off campus to assist clients in moving forward at their own pace.

  • Life Skills involves the individual therapist, life skills director, sobriety coach, and case manager to intervene and assist with the monitoring of progression and regression.
